Infrastructure Planning Policy Officer
This post is within the Strategic and Neighbourhood Planning Team which is part of the Council’s Economy and Environment Service. The service leads the Council’s infrastructure planning activity, actively contributing to the development of the area, future growth, business investment and connectivity to support the local economy and protect the environment.

Our exciting and challenging programme of work includes: responsibility for producing the spatial strategy and infrastructure elements of the new Herefordshire Local Plan. The timely delivery of high-quality infrastructure is fundamental to supporting development and ensuring Herefordshire is a great place to live, work, socialise and invest.
The Council seeks a highly organised individual with a good knowledge of the development industry and infrastructure provision to support the delivery of development and the Herefordshire Local Plan. The role will require liaison with teams across the Council as well as third party infrastructure providers to ensure that the infrastructure required to support the growth within the county is identified along with delivery timescales and appropriate funding sources.
You will have a good knowledge and experience of current planning issues, legislation, planning policy drafting and working on supporting evidence . An understanding and practical experience of working with, Section 106, the Community Infrastructure Levy and viability evidence is preferable. This post will play a significant role in ensuring the right infrastructure is secured and delivered to support development and help the Council to meet its corporate priorities.
The postholder will be capable of building strong relationships with all infrastructure providers to understand their needs, and then ensuring this is reflected within our key policy document, the Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP). This is an important role which will contribute to the Council’s vision and priorities to tackle inequality, share wealth and support a better standard of living; to best use Herefordshire’s collective resources.
