The role

An exciting Housing opportunity has arisen to join the successful and nationally regarded Rough Sleeper service, which is part of the wider Housing Solutions Service.  We currently have a full time permanent vacancy for a Rough Sleeper Outreach Team Lead to join the team at our Whitecross Road Hub, providing interim accommodation and support to individuals who were previously roofless or threatened with rough sleeping.

You will be responsible for managing a highly committed, dedicated and knowledgeable team who currently offer an outreach service to rough sleepers and those on the cusp of rough sleeping in Herefordshire. The Whitecross Hub aims to work closely with a core group of those in need of accommodation following their experiences of rooflessness. 

We are looking for a flexible, versatile, innovative individual with a broad knowledge of housing and housing legislation. A knowledge of the benefits system and funding sources available to assist our clients is vital together with an understanding approach to our clients who may have a challenging and chaotic housing history. The successful candidate must have a patient, adaptable and empathetic approach to our client group, to be able to network with other service providers and those who offer other voluntary support services to our client group.

You will be part of a vibrant team that has been recognised nationally for practices in reducing rough sleeping.  If you believe you have all the qualities required for the busy role please apply for the position.

  • Strong communication skills
  • Passionate about working with vulnerable people
  • Strong knowledge of housing and homelessness, including relevant legislation
  • Ability to handle complex situations in a sensitive manner
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
