About The Role

Our client based in Hereford is looking for 2 temporary Prevention Support Workers. The first will be working 35 hours per week covering 5 months and the second will be working 28 hours per week covering 2 months. 
Job Purpose: 
  • This post provides targeted and tailored outreach support service to individuals who may be homeless, at risk of homelessness, experiencing a family, or relationship breakdown, and supporting people with multiple vulnerabilities who are over 16 years of age to ensure positive outcomes for people.
  • A “Think Family Approach” offering assistance for young people and their families to reduce demand on formal care services, contribute to the prevention of homelessness and help them to maintain settled accommodation.
  • Assess clients for support eligibility and agree support tasks and outcomes to be achieved within the boundaries of the Hereford Housing Related Floating Support service contract. This will include agreeing appropriate levels of support, method and frequency of support required and agreeing length of support programme, and desired outcomes.
Dimensions:
  • Support clients with money management including household bills/management of income/claiming benefits/ accessing specialist debt advice/accessing training and employment/dealing with financial abuse.
  • Provide drop in and group sessions for clients in Herefordshire
  • Supporting clients to obtain or maintain accommodation or where homelessness is inevitable, to support them in securing and maintaining suitable alternative accommodation.
  • Establishing a ‘Think Family Approach’ to enable support for the whole family.
  • Having a trauma-informed approach when supporting clients.
Skills and Experience Required: 
  • Support clients with money management including household bills/management of income/claiming benefits/ accessing specialist debt advice/accessing training and employment/dealing with financial abuse.

Qualifications: 
  • NVQ Level 3 in Social Care, Promoting Independence, or equivalent youth qualification.
  • Certificate in Supported Housing or equivalent
