An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen within our Information Governance team for the role of Information Governance Officer.
The area of information governance is growing, and this role presents an opportunity to join an expanding Information Governance team to provide advice and guidance on information governance and data protection to all services across the council.
You will be working with and directly supporting the Information Governance Manager, DPO and other members of the team.
This is a busy role where no 2 days are the same. You will be working on a variety of information requests including Subject Access Requests and requests from the police. You will be one of the main points of contact for enquiries from the public and members of staff on information governance matters. You’ll also be providing advice and support in completing Data Protection Impact Assessments and investigating data incidents. You’ll also be involved in facilitating and promoting information governance across the council and helping to develop data protection training for employees.
The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of Data Protection legislation and prior experience of working within Information Governance or administration will stand you in good stead for this role. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to work in a complex environment whilst dealing with changing priorities. Reading and redacting information forms a large part of the role, so you’ll need to be organised and focussed.
