About the role:
As an experienced accountant with significant experience of local government finance, you will bring experience of customer focus and a proven ability in effective budget/financial management at senior level.
As Senior Finance Business Partner, you will build strong relationships with your stakeholders, gaining an in-depth knowledge of the drivers and issues that they face to inform the analysis of the results and provide effective challenge of assumptions and judgements in financial information. You will use your knowledge, experience and financial expertise to promote best financial practices across the organisation.
This role is accountable to the Strategic Finance Manager and has management responsibility for the Directorate Finance business partnering team. The post holder will ensure the provision of high quality and timely advice to budget managers to support financial management and inform decision making and effective use of resources across the Directorate. As a skilled and effective people manager, you will develop effective working relationships with stakeholders; inspiring confidence through the provision of high-quality financial information to advise and influence Directors, Heads of Service and Service Managers. Experience and knowledge of providing financial support to both children’s social care and schools finance services will be preferable.
We have recently transformed the financial reporting arrangements across the council; improving and enhancing the way that the Finance function adds value to the council’s service areas and strategic objectives. The council’s statutory accounts and audit are up to date; the 2023/24 accounts were published by the statutory deadline with an unqualified audit opinion in October 2024.
