Hoople Group provides essential building maintenance services across Herefordshire, supporting our public sector partners and contracted clients to keep their buildings safe, compliant, and operational.
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Electrician to join our Building Maintenance Team, working Monday – Friday 37 hours per week. The successful applicant will carry out compliant electrical maintenance, repair, testing, and minor installation works across a diverse portfolio of commercial and domestic buildings, helping to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant services across the estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical maintenance, repairs, fault diagnosis, and minor installation works in accordance with BS 7671 (18th Edition) and relevant Building Regulations.
- Undertake periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations and produce accurate, compliant reports.
- Complete remedial works to achieve satisfactory test outcomes.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks including emergency lighting tests, fire alarm checks, and generator load tests.
- Attend and resolve reactive electrical requests, estimating repair costs and ordering materials as required.
- Ensure all work is risk assessed, safe, and documented appropriately.
- Maintain accurate job records, certificates, and inspection reports using a mobile device.
- Ensure electrical test equipment is maintained, calibrated, and recorded.
- Work collaboratively with the Building Maintenance team and support colleagues where required.
- Carry out occasional non‑electrical building maintenance tasks within capability.
- Participate in the out‑of‑hours call‑out rota.
- Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varied site conditions as required.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in electrical inspection, testing, repairs, and maintenance across domestic and commercial buildings.
- Recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (including AM2).
- City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition).
- City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent) Inspection & Testing.
- Strong understanding of electrical regulations, safety standards, and safe systems of work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varied site conditions.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Appointment will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
